Why We are lucky in SA. Oh, and why crashing sucks.

Riding out and back thru the "Key's" The course profile looks like gentle rolling waves!
Surprisingly still did 650 feet of climbing in 45 miles.
This is what a hip looks like when it hits the tarmack at around 25mph.
And the knee always gets to share the impact as well.
Turk and I are in Key West for a wedding. With Ft. Davis coming up in a week I need to ride so shipped my bike down.
I hadn't ridden in a week so it was good to "get the stink off." On the way back I moved out of the road in a construction zone and caught a lip I didn't see at about 25 mph. Quick tuck and roll, watched the bike tumble in front of me. Not a big deal - the road was smooth and I didn't slide very far. Musta been pretty spectacular - a couple of cars stopped to check on me which is always appreciated. A little road rash and a few bruises, particularly to the ego. I hadn't crashed in over 5 years and guess what, it wasn't worth the wait.
Very boring riding down here - the ocean is nice scenery but there is little variety and the profile is flat. Surprisingly not pancake flat so it'll be interesting to see how tomorrow goes - I plan to ride 4 hours hard.
Stay tuned and keep the rubber side down.

Yeah, Rach was crashed out of Redlands by when Amber Rais ran over a waterbottle. I guess years of racing and being a pro does nothing for your handling skills?? Been a while since I talked to Amber, so it's probably time for another chat. Stupid b%$#h!!
Looking forward to Ft. Davis.
Hope both of y'all have a speedy recovery.
Wes
Not 100% sure, but looks like you'll be fine. -Craig
