OmniSYS Roadtrip (Race) - Road Race

Road Rules. What goes on the road, well you know the rest....
Traveling with alot of stuff requires creative packing.
Craig was specifically instructed as to the "no monkeypawin" policy. Apparently doesn't apply to Wes's bike.
Team B-H hotel closet.
Rachel in her pre-race routine.
And Craig in his.
A couple of "new" B-H racers in the 1-2 race - Todd and Colt. Notice Jim firmly abiding by the "no monkeypawin" policy.
Apparently Quasimodo was lining up in a B-H kit this am.
Jim takes his last phone call and the race has begun.
Live action shot of Rach in the peleton. 2nd hottest B-H racer, after Cuda, natch.
Ascent view of the race route and profile.
Ascent data from the race.
Garmin view of the race. Jim set the Garmin to "autolap" every 5 miles to easily get a quick peek at the breakdown of the race.
Real nice race. Jim and Rachel raced together - the women 1-2-3 only had 6 racers so her class was combined with the men's 45+ field. Gave us a field of around 30 total. Craig raced an hour after them so helped them get their bikes and wheels ready before their start. The weather was cool and the wind was light. The chipseal didn't seem to bad to day (Rachel had a bad day on the bike and hated every minute of it, however.)
Halfway thru the race, Jim didn't realize that Rach had gone off the back as he had gone to the front since they were hitting the 5 "hills" section. She had seemed in no difficulty and he was bummed as he was planning to help her as much as possible. After that Jim started attacking, but nothing would stick and after attacking at 2k to go then getting swallowed up at 1k to go he freewheeled in as the finish was really sketchy.
Craig had a much larger field in the 35+ race (~55 racers) and made it thru with the bunch, unscathed. Jim was gonna make him ride back to San Antonio if he got dropped, nothing like incentive to maximize performance!!
Now rest, hydrate and recovery for tomorrows crits. The course looks dubious (small parking lot with several buildings) but more than 1 racer said the crit is "fun." So, we'll see!!
