Don't Clean it Just Make it Race Ready

OK, tell me how this makes sense. A bike comes in before for service before last weekend's racing. The words uttered were "Don't clean it just make it race ready." 1st of all, this bike was at one point a high quality peice of machinery. After several months of riding w/ no love the thing could be mistaken for you run of the mill bike. The point is you can't make something last for long without maintaining it a little. We were able to get the bike in top shape for the race but the bottom bracket had to be replaced due to the inordinate amount of dirt and muck on the bike.

Demo Days are THIS WEEKEND!!!

Thanks for checking the Bicycle-Heaven Blog. We are Hosting Demo Days this Saturday. I am really busy getting prepred for that so I will be brief with this blog.

Richard V. Stopped by last week to have a new crank installed on his custom IF. Stay tuned to the blog for the next few weeks for an exciting anouncement about IF in San Antonio.
This is a picture of a cheetah and Matt in a compromising situation. I hope that Anna doesn't check the blog.

Matt used his Mad Art Skills to make our signage for Demo Days. Which is this weekend!!! If you dont know about Demo Days, call the store 210.494.0035 for more info.

We just got our forst order of Kona bikes for 2007. Here are the first womens models that we have put together. We also have some other mens models that are here in the store. More pictures to come in the coming days.

Anything involving Renae B is IFy

So Here it is. After a long wait Renae's bike arrived. After the three day process of putting it together. Renae's nerves were fried from the assembly process, but once he got it out on the roads all the anxiety melted away with the buttery smooth ride of the steel crown jewel. We have really enjoyed building up all of the IF bikes that we have done this year. We feel like nothing can compare to the feel of a custom made bike. Stop by the store for your free consultation on the custom option that would best suit your needs.

Kim's bike dropped more than a pound with the upgrades that we made last week. The most significant change being the upgrade to 2007 XTR. If you are racing Lajitas and get passed by a pink Jekyll you know who it is.
The new Soloist Carbon SLC. Matt built this bike up last week for store stock. The weight is super light and the looks are killer too. The bike retails for $8100.00 as you see it here. Keep and eye out for the new R3 SL coming soon. Swing by the store to take a look at this bike in person. Even if you aren't in the market for a new bike you can still look.

This is a custom Moots that we recently built for a customer. He had it painted at Sem Custom Paint to give it a little more personality. Call the store for more detail on Moots Bicycles.
Myhre crashed out on the couch after the 60 mile shop ride. The best part is that after snoozing for a half hour he jumped on his bike and went off for another 20 or so miles. Good luck at Pace Bend John!

I was cleaning up and found these cool old school cycling trading cards. I also think the store has a full set of Mapei team card somewhere. Sorry about the poor quality of the photos.

Bicycle-Heaven is serious about women's products. Here are a few that we have brought in recently. I would love to give more info but I need to do some other work. Call me if you have any questions. Enjoy!

Sunny Days Are Here Again

With the cold nasty weather apparently over; we have seen a huge increase in bike sales and Service. For this I am very thankful. Not to mention the fact that now I can ride my bike outside again. Which I will need to do a TON of judging by my performance at the Tour of New Braunfels this past weekend. I did get some good photos though. I will be posting them in the next little bit, but for now here is a recap of what has been going on the past week or so.
Last Saturday Bicycle-Heaven hosted the Team in Training clinics on bike maintenance, flat repair, equipment selection, fit, and clothing. Here are a few pictures from the event.
Bruce Tyler demonstrates the proper method for changing a flat tire while out on the road.

Marion taught the session on clothing, fit, and equipment selection.

Janelle goes over some of the basics of bike maintenance, and explains the difference between bike specific lubes and household lubricants.

I demonstrated the use of a chain cleaning device and suggested how a home mechanic might set up their work area.
The rest of these pictures are just some random shot around the store. Hope you enjoy them.

Bob Harris' new R3 with record. This bike is under 15 lbs.

The above pictures are taken after Rob Kane rode around a couple of days during the Rain etc. He wont let a little foul weather spoil his fun.
